Apple has announced that it has sold it’s one-millionth iPad, only 28 days after it was introduced on April 3. iPad users have also downloaded over 12 million apps from the App Store and over 1.5 million ebooks from the new iBookstore. Apple CEO Steve Jobs was elated. “One million iPads in 28 days—that’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone. Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers.”
The iPad will run almost all of the more than 200,000 apps on the App Store, including apps already purchased for an iPhone or iPod touch. Developers have already released over 5,000 new apps for iPad.
Development for iPad continues full bore, with many new and unique apps being developed solely for that platform. Already there are many productivity, photography, art, music, and game apps that take full advantage of the larger iPad Multi-Touch interface, large screen and high-quality graphics.
Quite an accomplishment, and another success for Apple.
