Finding The Best Host Hosting
You’ll notice several Blue Host banners around the site. Before setting up the site, we needed to choose a Web Hosting Company. If you do a search, you’ll find a number of popular one’s including that one that wants to be your ‘Daddy’.
I made of list of the top Web Hosting Services and here is what I found. There are several things to consider.
1. What hours is the customer support available?
2. How good is their customer support? Do you feel hurried when they are helping you, or do they take all the time that you need to get your questions answered?
3. How good are their servers? Will your site be up without interruptions?
4. Is the business conducted in a professional manner?
I checked out about a half dozen sites. After all, the success of your site it totally dependent on the company you choose to host it. Several did not have 24/7 customer support. This is just not going to fly. Even if you generally aren’t working on your site at night, there will be times when you notice a problem in the evening or on the weekends. Do you really want to wait until Monday morning to reach someone?
Several of the companies advertised 24/7 customer service, so I called them at 3:00 am. One of them did not answer, so I tried calling 3 more times over the next hour, and they never did answer. The next company answered the phone, but the Customer Support was in India. I asked the tech a number of questions, and although quite polite and wanting to be helpful, he clearly did not understand what I was asking, and tried to give me answers that did not apply to what I was asking. In addition, I had a heck of a time understanding his English.
Web Site support is often going to be the most urgent and time intensive type of Customer Support that you will ever require. Do you really want to be dealing with a language barrier in addition to technical issues? That may be ok for a quick computer question, but for something as involved as web-server issues it can be a nightmare. This was just a no go for me.
The third place I called was Blue Host. They answered the phone after two rings. All their Customer Support is based in Utah, where the company is located. They were very knowledgeable, and fielded every difficult question I had. After a short while, I knew right away that this was going to be my Web Hosting Company.
Over the past six months and dozens and dozens of calls at all hours of the day and night, Blue Host has always provided me with terrific service. In fact, I have to say that they have provided better service that any company I have done business with in the past 10 years; and that includes Apple computer which does a great job.
They use the latest in server technology, provide many excellent free services from their C-Panel, and have made getting our site up and running a relatively easy experience. Give them a call. They are really nice folks. The cost for a site is very competitive and they offer the best site package I’ve seen, including:
